Equality.

The following examples do NOT represent my views. Not all of them. Especially the bit about the dogs.

Equality.

What it means, in essence, is "To give people the same possibilities as others."

If say, you're in a job interview, wether giving it, applying or just on the sidelines... You will hear the question "How will you ensure equality in the workplace" The answer that is often given, wrongly, is "I will treat everyone equally."

WRONG. Completely and UTTERLY.

If the world was one where THAT kind of equality was enforced....
  • There would be no bosses in the workplace. They get paid more, are given more responsibility. Not equal.
  • Guide dogs for the blind? Guide dogs for Everyone! We're EQUAL! Why should blind people get the cool trained dogs and not me?
  • Dogs EVERYWHERE, not just guide dogs.
  • I want a Motorised Wheelchair! Equality!

And so on and so forth. Again, not my opinions.

It is purely stupid that the answer to the above question is given as "Treat them Equally".

To give equality you must NOT treat them equally. You should treat everyone DIFFERENTLY. Not completely. But you need to treat them with that little bit of variety that gives everyone the same chances. Clear enough?

Just never use "treat them equally" as an answer in a job interview. If you have a good boss, they won't accept it. Learn a little, eh?
